Kingston City Land Bank communications, New HOME Program

As we attempted to address in our prior media release regarding construction at 35-37 Hanratty, the actions of our general contractor have unfortunately produced great unease, mistrust, and valid feelings of disrespect in this neighborhood. Because that prior release was not printed in full, you can find it HERE.

We trusted our general contractor would continue to maintain positive neighbor relations, as they have over the past 6 years we have worked together. Instead, we have learned their communications were unprofessional, inconsistent, and misleading. This is unacceptable and far below the standard we hold ourselves and our work to.

The construction means and methods undertaken on active sites are those of that contractor. However, going forward, we have re-established direct contact with the immediate neighbors of our current construction work to keep the lines of communication open. We would like to again take the opportunity to express to those neighbors our sincere disappointment and regret for the poor communication they have received to date. Going forward, we will do better and will do so directly.

This modular home at 35-37 Hanratty is now set on its foundation. The building will soon offer the dream of affordable homeownership to another hard-working family. We will continue our work, and pledge going forward to take a more forward-facing role engaging the neighborhoods throughout our city as we do so.
